The Vans OG Sk8-Hi LX Taka Hayashi Sk8 Paradise is yet another joint venture out of a pack created with the frequent Vans collaborator.
These have a dope print of flowers and skeletons and shipped with white and black laces and a special dustbag with the same print on it as the shoe.
I always pay attention when Taka Hayashi does a shoe with Vans and I like how these have a pattern that’s not subtle, but also stands out. Just a little break from a basic pair of Sk8 His with a nice pattern and a bit more attention to the construction and blocking.
Materials
The print is situated on a canvas area, while the all black parts are a rough suede. The shoes also feature a leather liner around the collar. Overall the shoe is nice and sturdy and has a solid feel to it. I would say the materials are decent in a rugged way rather than buttery.
Fit
The Vans OG Sk8-Hi LX Taka Hayashi Sk8 Paradise is quite heavy as the materials are all thick and Sk8 Hi’s tend to be weighty in general. Unlike Air Force 1s though, the weight doesn’t translate into a bulky shoe. I would caution not to go any smaller than true to size on these. They look big on the shelf, but your pinky toes will regret sizing down if you do.
