I haven’t owned a pair of half cabs in a while! These Vans Vault OG Half Cab LX Black Marshmallow have convinced me to get back into this model.
I’m also a fan of Vans Vault in general, and I had thought the designation was going away for good! Luckily somehow Vault is back! This is a black and off-white shoe so have fun with your outfit. I think the look with the most “pop” is going to be light wash denim and a white tee. With Vans like these, the simpler the outfit, the better, so as not to lose the street/skater aesthetic the shoes bring.
The exterior materials on these are rugged but not premium. The suede is very rough and not very good quality at all! The canvas portions are tough and seem very sturdy and supportive. The inside of the shoe is much fancier, with a nice quality leather ankle liner. All in all, the materials here are a mixed bag. If you want buttery suede, look elsewhere, but if you want a more rugged shoe then these are going to be perfect.
How Do They Fit?
These Vans Vault OG Half Cab LX Black Marshmallow fit a little big, but I would not size down. I’ve found Vans this inherently stiff to harm pinky toes easily. Thus, I prefer rocking kicks like this with a little extra room. If I skated, I would probably go for the snug fit, but as it is I don’t mind a little space between the sides of my feet and the shoe.
I’m glad Vans Vault is apparently still around and I’m looking forward to building my Half Cab collection back to it’s former glory days. I know Vans has it in them to create collectible half cabs with buttery suede, so if I catch a deal on something like that, I’m ready to pull the trigger!
