I recently reviewed the MS4s and after seeing photos of these, the Air Jordan 4 Alternate Motorsport were next on the list! Jordan has a motorsports team, so these get their name from that and are a new colorway based on the white pair. Of course, the white is swapped out for black on the alternates.
The colorway is basically the Bred 4 with a swap from red to blue. Adding the blue in is a challenge typically for outfits, but luckily it is minimal on the shoe. That means if you want to wear some blue gear, go for it! You can pull it off without being too matchy. I personally like to choose some dark pants and create some sort of black/grey/white outfit combo for an easy, low key look with these.
I think these kicks are a good look and definitely already slept on. They remind me of the Sport Blue 3s, but the quality is much nicer on these. If you like 4s but want something decent that’s in a new colorway, I would go with the Alternate MS 4!
Materials
The leather on these is surprisingly dope for a general release. In fact, seeing pictures of the quality online was what drove me over the edge to cop. It is nice and supple and definitely beats the white pair. Some have still complained about the quality, and while the leather isn’t super premium, it is really nice for this type of widespread retro model release.
Fit
The Air Jordan 4 Alternate Motorsport fit true to size if not a bit narrow. Unlike the white/blue Motorsport 4s, I’m able to wear my true size without crushing my pinky thanks to the softer, more pliable leather. These are quite comfortable on feet which I’m happy about since I typically have issues with the fit on AJ4s.
