Blazers are among my favorite Nike Sportswear kicks! These Nike Blazer Hi Varsity Red are a really clean shoe that I would probably have copped even when I wasn’t collecting kicks.
This particular pair has a bit of the vintage appeal with the padding popping up out of the tongue. I’m glad they stopped the VNTG treatment there and didn’t also pre-yellow the midsole.
Blazers aren’t exactly collector’s kicks, but I think they are a classic shoe that anyone can rock and look fly in. I see people rocking these a lot pretty much every time I go to Europe (about once a year). I’m always on the lookout for simple colorways on this shoe.
How Are The Materials?
The materials on these aren’t exactly buttery, but they are still nice. The upper is mostly suede, and while it isn’t lush or soft, it doesn’t feel as crappy as some other GR Nike suedes that are out there. Smooth synthetic leather covers the swoosh and upper rear of the shoe as well as the ankle liner. The leather feels nice and seems to be wearing in well. My only complaint is that the suede dye bleeds onto the white parts of the shoe including the tongue and laces. Other than that, these definitely have a satisfactory material composition.
How Do They Fit?
The Nike Blazer Hi Varsity Red are very comfortable and fit true to size. Of course, like Sk8-His and other shoes with lots of eyelets, these are a bit of a pain to lace up and take on and off. Other than that, the fit and shape on these are great and look awesome!
