Back in the day when I was starting to build my SB collection, I would hit up Michigan skateshop Premier all the time for the newest drops. The Nike Dunk Low SB Petoskey is the first in what would become a series of high profile collabs for the store.
The Petoskey stone is a prehistoric fossil rock that is found in the Michigan area. The shoe celebrates the theme with “rock” textures on the uppers and a special graphic on the insole.
These look great with black denim and a grey top. Surprisingly, a light medium wash jean also looks awesome with these! Due to the different colors on the shoe, a lot of looks wind up working great! I would just caution against wearing anything too wacky. Plainer outfits are going to save the day and let these shine on their own.
I was fortunate enough to get the hook up on the in store release, so I got a bunch of cool extras with my pair. This includes an additional set of insoles with special graphics, multiple spare laces with Premier branding on the aglets and a dustbag to keep everything in. It’s shoes like these that make me wish I still had an in at the store! Premier is definitely one of the top-tier places to buy kicks online and I forever have love for the guys there for the years of making sure I got my pairs.
How Are The Materials?
The materials are pretty good on these! As mentioned above, these use a special “stone” texturing on the leather. The rest of the uppers are a short-haired suede. The suede is not buttery or lush. However, I’m happy with the materials used, and the Petoskey stone theme is well represented.
How Do They Fit?
The Nike Dunk Low SB Petoskey fit true to size and are really comfortable. The materials aren’t as stiff as other, more recent SB’s. These seem to have been put together before Nike SB decided to make all their dunks as stiff as boards. Overall, these are a great shoe to celebrate a great store and a cool theme without destroying your feet!
