It’s great that I can get away with wearing sneakers to work, as long as they’re mostly black. That’s exactly where these Asics Gel Saga Black come in handy!
I’m definitely a fan of Gel Sagas and I’m pretty sure I picked these up for less than half of retail price. I would go into more details about what makes these special, except they’re the most generic Gel Sagas you can get. That said, when I’m looking for a “standard” sneaker to wear that I can pull off in a business casual environment, shoes like this are the way to go.
How Are The Materials?
The materials are what you would expect from the most GR of GR Asics. Unlike other pairs of Gel Sagas, the suede on these is not lush, or even textured. It’s more of a smooth nubuck-like material mixed with mesh and the 3M synthetic leather stripes on the side. You definitely won’t be in love with the material quality, however the mix of materials on such a basic shoe is a plus. At least these attempt to keep it somewhat interesting if not premium.
How Do They Fit?
Gel Sagas have my favorite type of Asics fit and these Asics Gel Saga Black are no exception. These are very comfortable and fit true to size. Although the comfort is tough to beat, the shape is a tad blocky. I had to do a bit of toebox reshaping to get these looking how you see them now. My reshaping technique is very basic and involves mashing and bending the toebox and midsole over the edge of a table.
