Nike SB Dunk Low Nasty Boys Review

Updated March 11, 2016 by Anthony

The Nike SB Dunk Low Nasty Boys are part of a pair of dunks celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 1990 World Series where the Cincinnati Reds beat the Oakland A’s.

As a former Oakland resident, I was at the time disappointed at the A’s loss, but today I’m stoked because these kicks are dope! The only thing that prevented me from getting the high top A’s dunks was that the colorway was basically identical to the Buck SB’s, which I already have. This particular shoe features an American flag on the side (many teams sported this as a tribute to US soldiers in the Gulf War) and “Nasty Boys” embroidered on the rear (a nod to the Reds relief pitchers Norm Charlton, Rob Dibble and Randy Myers). Other details include baseball stitching on the sides of the tongue tag. This collab between Nike SB, Anonymous and UNheardof almost got pulled from shelves but ended up releasing anyway.

These feature a suede upper with a metallic swoosh. I was reading feedback that the suede was great on these, but now that I have them in hand, I’ll say it’s average at best, more like “meh”. The grey bits are a bit sandpapery and the red portions are marginally better. Overall I’d give the materials a C+. The flag embroidery is of good quality though!

The Nike SB Dunk Low Nasty Boys fit true to size and are fairly comfortable. They fit closer to a newer release so they’ll be a bit stiff at first. They should break in after one solid wear for a few hours. The zoom air gives these a nice springy feel like other SB dunks, but then again I think the main draw of the shoe isn’t the comfort or materials, it’s the colorway and the details.
