Vans Authentic True Red Review

Updated January 26, 2016 by Anthony

The Vans Authentic True Red is the most basic red shoe you can buy! Except the red midsole and black sole – you don’t see that too often. That said, there’s something kind of awesome about throwing on a very simple pair of Authentics and having it easily blend with damn near any outfit you are trying to pull off.

I saw pictures of these on feet around online back in the day and I had to go find out where I could grab a pair. Back when all-red kicks were everywhere, these were my go-to pair of all red.

Whether in a casual setting or even a little bit business casual, these loud red kicks pop right off your feet!

Materials

I can’t really go into depth on the materials because the whole shoe’s canvas. It’s a nice quality canvas that’s thick but flexes with your foot (hence the creasing). The canvas does get dirty pretty easily, so be on the lookout for that as well. Overall, the construction and quality are great for a pair of Authentics and I wouldn’t let something like materials get in the way of copping shoes like these.

Fit

The Vans Authentic True Red fit kind of odd. Width-wise, I’m glad I went true to size, but since the material isn’t padded, length-wise they feel a little big. Not only that, but you have a good chance of back ankle rub with these. My trick on Authentics is to put a bandaid on under my socks where the shoe contacts my ankle. I usually only have to do this the first one or two times I rock these, and eventually they break in and become extremely comfortable. Canvas Vans Authentics tend to get way more comfy after a few wears.

Where To Cop

As of the writing of this article, eBay is your best bet for this exact colorway.
