Nike Dunk Low Platinum Violet / Cave Stone Review

Updated January 28, 2026 by Anthony

The Nike Dunk Low Platinum Violet / Cave Stone gets its name directly from the colorway, blending soft violet tones with neutral Cave Stone accents. The result is a subtle but interesting mix that feels familiar while still offering something a little different compared to some other more one-note Dunk releases.

The Nike Dunk Low originally debuted in the mid-1980s as a basketball shoe and has remained a staple in Nike’s retro lineup ever since. This pair is labeled SE, which in this case refers to the use of suede, a slightly upgraded material mix, and the inclusion of an extra set of laces rather than any changes to the overall construction. It’s another example of Nike using the SE designation to signal “something extra” compared to a basic all-leather Dunk.

I’ve been feeling regular Dunk Lows again lately, but mainly when there’s something special going on, whether that’s an SE, premium materials, or a unique colorway. What drew me to this pair was how the light violet interacts with the grayish brown cave stone shade, giving off some vague Purple Pigeon–type vibes in terms of overall feel. The SE upgrades helped, but what really swung the decision was being able to grab these for around $65 shipped from Hibbett, which made them an easy pickup.

The sneaker comes in a standard orange Nike box and includes two sets of flat laces, one in Platinum Violet and one in Cave Stone.

Materials

Materials consist of a mix of suede and leather. The leather has a slight, barely noticeable tumble, while the suede is decent but not anything special. That said, this material setup still outshines the stiff, plasticky leather found on many general-release Dunk Lows. Overall, the materials feel worth the small price bump at retail and are even more compelling when picked up at a discount. They’re not amazing, but definitely better than the most basic releases.

Fit & Comfort

Fit is the familiar true to size Dunk Low fit, with a slightly roomy feel and basic underfoot support. Comfort is straightforward and works well for casual wear, making these easy to wear day to day without any surprises.

If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
