Nike Dunk Low Denim Dusted Clay Review

Updated January 26, 2026 by Anthony

The Nike Dunk Low Denim Dusted Clay gets its name from both the materials and the colorway, blending denim construction with earthy Dusted Clay tones. This pair released as part of a small pack that also included a more blue-based version that leans closer to traditional denim colors, giving this one a slightly more unique and unexpected look within the lineup.

The Nike Dunk Low originally debuted in the mid-1980s as a basketball shoe and has remained a staple in Nike’s retro catalog ever since. What sets this pair apart is the material execution and paneling, most notably the cut-out Swoosh, which is carved directly into the side panel as an underlay instead of being added as a separate overlay. Like the Olive Gum pair, these are labeled SE, and the “Special Edition” aspect here comes from the denim materials, altered construction, and the inclusion of an extra set of laces rather than any major performance changes.

I wasn’t very interested in these at first, but a $74 shipped sale price from Sneakersnstuff definitely helped sway me. After getting them in hand, they’re actually much nicer than expected. The colorway reminds me a bit of the Setsubun Dunk Lows with the tan and purple mix, which ends up looking really good in person. I was also unsure about the cut-out Swoosh at first, but it looks way better on foot than it did in online photos.

Packaging is standard, as the shoe comes in a plain orange Nike box. Inside are two sets of flat laces; brown and purple, which match different elements of the upper.

Materials

Material-wise, the Nike Dunk Low Denim Dusted Clay uses denim throughout the upper, paired with a suede Swoosh that’s cut directly into the side panel instead of layered on top. The denim is softer than it looks and feels better in hand than expected. Overall, the materials feel solid for an SE release, and especially at the sale price, these come across as a steal. The build quality easily exceeds that of standard non-premium Dunk releases.

Fit & Comfort

Fit is the familiar true to size Dunk Low fit, with a slightly roomy feel and no real tech to speak of. Comfort is basic but perfectly fine for casual wear, making these easy to wear for a few hours at a time without any issues.

If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
