Nike Air Pegasus Wave Copper Moon Review

Updated January 9, 2026 by Anthony

The Nike Air Pegasus Wave Copper Moon is a premium take on Nike’s newer Pegasus Wave silhouette, with this pair earning its nickname directly from the warm orange-and-grey colorway.

The Pegasus Wave leans hard into Y2K runner aesthetics, borrowing its midsole/outsole tooling from the Pegasus 2005 while layering on a TPU cage and puffed mesh panels for a more modern, lifestyle-forward look. A fun detail is the hidden stash pocket behind the tongue, often interpreted as a nod to early-2000s rave culture and the era’s experimental design cues.

I’d been wanting to try the Pegasus Wave for a while, but couldn’t quite settle on a colorway until I spotted these on sale at Reynolds and Sons for about $65 shipped. That price made the decision easy. I’ve always liked orange and grey together, and the Copper Moon accents really pop against the neutral base without being over the top. This feels like a good balance between loud and wearable, especially compared to some of the more chaotic Y2K runners out right now.

These come in the standard orange Nike box and are laced up with orange speckled rope laces, which really help push the lifestyle vibe and separate these from a standard performance runner look.

Materials

The upper is mostly synthetic, combining mesh and TPU with a fuzzy suede toe panel acting as the “premium” upgrade on this version. While this isn’t a materials-forward shoe in the traditional sense, the added suede and solid overall construction give it a nicer feel than the standard Wave. Nothing excessive here, but it feels well built and absolutely worth it at a discount.

Fit & Comfort

These fit true to size and are comfortably cushioned thanks to the full-length Air unit and supportive insole doing most of the work. Underfoot, they feel like a classic retro runner with a bit of modern plushness added in—stable, supportive, and comfortable enough to wear for extended periods. They still carry some of that old-school runner heft, but overall this is a very wearable, casual-friendly sneaker.

If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
