The Nike Air Pegasus 2005 Green Strike brings back a classic early-2000s runner as a retro lifestyle sneaker, tapping directly into the ongoing Y2K running trend.
Originally released in 2005 (often referred to as the Pegasus 2K5), the Pegasus 2005 was a staple in Nike’s performance lineup, known for balancing cushioning, durability, and everyday usability. Today, it returns less as a performance runner and more as a wearable throwback built for casual rotation.
I’ve been meaning to grab a newer pair of Pegasuses, and this colorway immediately stood out. The clean white and black base with sharp hits of neon green feels perfectly on-trend without going overboard. Finding these on sale for around $100 shipped direct from Nike sealed the deal, and they scratch that retro tech-runner itch really well.
These come in a standard orange Nike Sportswear box and are laced with white skinny oval laces that keep the look true to the era.
Materials
This is a fully synthetic build, which might feel underwhelming at full retail, but it’s also accurate to what the shoe was in 2005. You’re not buying these for premium materials—you’re buying them for the silhouette, nostalgia, and overall vibe. Looked at through that lens, the construction feels appropriate and solid enough for everyday wear.
Fit & Comfort
These fit great at true to size and don’t feel overly narrow. Back in its performance days, the Pegasus 2005 was praised for its responsive cushioning thanks to a full-length Air unit, soft foam midsole, and breathable upper—and that DNA still shows. Underfoot, these are supportive with good step-in comfort and are easy to wear all day. They do feel a bit heavier and clunkier compared to modern Nike runners, but that’s par for the course with Air-unit retros. Overall, still a very comfortable sneaker.
If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
