The New Balance 1906R x DTLR Moon Sign is the latest DTLR-exclusive take on the 1906R – and a spiritual follow-up to their Starry Night collab.
The 1906R originally revived a 2010 running design and brought it into modern lifestyle rotation (I’ve covered the full history in a previous review), and this edition layers an astrological theme onto the silhouette with a surprisingly subtle hand. This Moon Sign colorway interprets various moon signs through its palette, using bright colors on the midsole and N Logo to reflect the different astrological signs. The insoles really drive the concept home with a moon-over-water graphic behind the NB logo, echoing the quiet storytelling of the Starry Night pair. No loud gimmicks here – just small nods and clean execution.
I grabbed these for $120 shipped, which felt like a no-brainer after liking the first DTLR collab so much. The yellow accents and bright pops hit way harder in person, and for an exclusive pair under retail, this was an easy pickup.
They come in the standard grey New Balance box with two sets of oval laces – blue and white with blue trim.
Materials
Synthetic overlays with mesh underlays. Nothing premium like a Made in USA release, but the construction is clean, sturdy, and exactly what you expect from a well-done 1906R collab. Quality for the price feels totally fair.
Fit & Comfort
Fits like every other 1906R: comfortable at true to size with a balanced ride that leans slightly supportive rather than soft. Nice step-in comfort, good stability, and perfectly suited for casual daily wear.
If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
