The New Balance 1000 x Salehe Bembury Fog Be The Cloud takes the revived 1000 silhouette and filters it through Bembury’s signature nature-driven design language.
Inspired by the Smoky Mountains—fog rolling over ridges, mossy greens, sunset tones—the shoe blends earthy textures and pops of unexpected color. You get his tonal fingerprint pattern worked into the leather overlays and on the cork insoles, plus the trademark nametag near the collar. The translucent “N” logo acts as a literal fog reference, while the hairy suede at the toe adds that natural, tactile depth Bembury loves. The New Balance 1000 was originally released in 1999 as a performance running shoe, but it was relatively unsuccessful and went on hiatus for decades. The shoe was revived in 2024 and this time has remained popular.
I’ve been wanting a token pair of 1000s for the rotation, and grabbing a collab for $131 shipped from Salehe’s site made it an easy yes. His ability to combine colors that shouldn’t work—but absolutely do—is elite. The green suede against the blue upper, the little volt touch above the midsole, the red laces… all chaotic on paper, perfect in execution.
They arrive in a co-branded box with a mountain/valley scene and come laced with red flats.
Materials
Premium leathers, suede overlays, mesh underlays—great quality for a non-Made-in-USA NB, especially under retail. Definitely a nicer material package than standard 1000 GRs, with that elevated Salehe touch.
Fit & Comfort
True to size with a comfortable, balanced feel. The cushioning leans soft and slightly stable—good step-in comfort and perfectly fine for daily wear, walking, and long hours on your feet. Not a high-performance ride, but easily an all-day shoe.
If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
