After a long hiatus, its 2020 reissue reignited massive popularity, cementing the model as a modern classic. I’ve been wanting to bring another pair of 992s back into my rotation after selling my older ones, and this Dark Camo pair showed up under retail on Mr. Porter—about $150 shipped—which sealed the deal instantly. I’m a big fan of olive and camo-adjacent greens, so this subtle, versatile GR fits perfectly into the type of colorways I always end up wearing the most.
They arrive in a standard tan and red Made in USA box and include two sets of flat laces: a white pair and a grey (aluminum?) pair.
Materials
As expected with Made in USA pairs, the suede quality is excellent—rich, smooth, and premium to the touch. The mesh underlays and reflective detailing round out the classic 992 formula. Retail is high, but the build quality absolutely backs it up. At a discount, these feel like a steal.
Fit & Comfort
The 992 has a generous fit at true to size, and while some people prefer going a half size down, I like the slightly roomy TTS feel. Comfort is balanced: some nice step-in softness with a stable, supportive ride. Not overly plush, not overly firm—just that dependable, all-day wearable cushioning the 992 is known for. Lightweight, high quality, and very easy to wear.
