The Asics Gel-Kayano 14 Dried Leaf Green brings the now-iconic metallic silver + mesh runner look to another clean, wearable colorway. With its neutral green hits and shiny synthetic overlays, it fits perfectly into the current Y2K technical sneaker wave.
Originally released in 2008, the Gel-Kayano 14 marked a major update to Asics’ performance running line with GEL cushioning at both the heel and forefoot and a sleeker, more modern design. Its retro comeback has been huge thanks to that breathable mesh, silvery overlays, and sporty tech aesthetic. This pair gets its name from the official “Dried Leaf Green” colorway.
I’ve owned the Kayano trainers before, and always wanted to try a 14. I finally pulled the trigger thanks to a $40 off deal from WestNYC. The sale helped sway the color decision, but honestly many Kayano 14s share this silver-mesh base—so this one still hits the vibe perfectly.
Packaging is the standard Asics brown box and the shoes come laced with grey laces that match the mesh underlays.
Materials
The build uses metallic synthetic overlays over a breathable mesh base. It’s well-constructed and durable—definitely more about performance and engineering than premium material feel, which fits the model’s DNA.
Fit & Comfort
True to size works best for me, with a very comfortable underfoot feel and cushioning that still holds up today. The toe box runs slightly narrow, so wide-footed buyers may want to consider sizing up—but for most, it’s a great balance of support and comfort. Asics tends to bring it on their retros in this regard.
If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
