The Nike Air Max 90 Carbon Fiber gives off serious reverse Infrared vibes, but swaps in Bright Crimson for the accent color and adds a bold twist with carbon fiber details. While there was a similar pair in the past, this release sets itself apart with its namesake carbon fiber material applied to the underlays, tongue, and even the mudguard—something you don’t see too often on a general release AM90.
I’ve been picking up a lot of Air Max 90s lately, and this was one I didn’t want to miss. Instead of waiting for a discount, I just paid full retail on Nike’s site to lock them in. No regrets—these stand out in person and feel more special than your typical GR pair.
I wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes one of those colorways that gets overlooked at first, then becomes hard to find later. If you’re into bold 90s colorblocking and unique materials, this is a solid pair to add to the rotation.
These come in the standard Nike orange box and include black flat laces.
Materials
Materials here are better than average: the overlays use a decent suede or nubuck that feels solid to the touch, not too rough but not buttery soft either. Still, it’s nicer than the felt seen on some 90s. And the carbon fiber effect is slick—it adds texture and a glossy contrast that really elevates the look. It feels (and smells) like it’s really made from vinyl rubber or similar. Overall, this release earns its premium tag more than most, even if there’s still room for Nike to push quality further.
Fit & Comfort
Fit is standard Air Max 90—true to size, and the extra paneling from the carbon doesn’t really affect that familiar comfort or shape. Underfoot it’s your usual 90 feel: stable and comfortable for casual wear, but not ultra-plush.
If these are sold out at different stores online, you can try looking for them on eBay.
