The last Saucony I grabbed were the Shadow 6000 OG colorway. Enter these Saucony Jazz 4000 Luc!
The Jazz line started in 1981 and the Jazz 4000 came out in 1992. It is the 5th Jazz model, built to cater to runners.
The are part of “Shoes with Soul”, which benefits Boston Children’s Hospital’s Cardiac Fitness Program. There are 6 designs, each by a different child in the program. This includes 3 Jazz 4000’s. This pair is Luc’s design, whose rare blood disease requires infusions every two weeks. The influences for the shoe are Luc’s love of the outdoors, patchwork and edgy colors. They feature a bird graphic on the rear of the sneaker and the insole and a bird graphic print on the ankle liner. Behind the tongue is a tag that reads “Dude, I’m 13. I haven’t had an existential crisis yet.” These ship in a blue and orange checkerboard box with black and white rope laces.
All 3 Jazz 4000s in the collection are dope but I saw a lot of attention being given to the other two pairs so I decided to go with this one. The colorway reminds me of the 720 SB a lot with a very 80s mix of pink and blue. I was considering picking up one of the OG 4000 retros but I’m glad I got these instead, for a good cause!
How Are The Materials?
These shoes feature some great materials given the $100 price point. The eyelets and mudgard feature a buttery nubuck layered over a soft suede around the toebox. The river logo and back of the sneaker are comprised of a smooth leather which is also very soft. For the rest of the shoe we have mesh except for the blue suede on the side, 3M on the upper rear and denim tongue. Overall the materials are awesome and the sneaker provides several high quality textures.
How Do They Fit?
I went with my typical Saucony size of 9.5 on these Saucony Jazz 4000 Luc and these fit so comfortably! For comparison, I wear a 10 in most Nikes. I was surprised at how light the sneaker is given the inclusion of such quality materials including denim.
