It’s been a while since I picked up some Air Max 1s. These Nike Air Max 1 Bronze Eclipse/Houndstooth are bringing me back into the AM1 game! These get their nickname from either the colorway or the pattern, depending on which nickname you want to use.
These shoes didn’t come with any extras. In fact, they shipped with these annoying skinny flat laces. Luckily, I had a pair of the perfect ivory pair of laces to go in these instead.
The main feature on the shoe is probably the houndstooth pattern. The tongue also has grid stitching reminiscent of a quilted pattern.
How Are The Materials?
The materials here are suede, wool and whatever textile the houndstooth is on. Overall the build quality seems good. The suede around the toebox and mudgard and on the swoosh is somewhat thick (does have a backstroke color change on parts). While lush, the suede is also unfortunately fairly rough – I’m not getting necessarily a premium vibe here.
The wool used on the panels seems good though, I’m not the best judge of this material but from what I can tell it is at least decent.
The houndstooth material is some kind of cloth/lightweight canvas type material. I can’t tell exactly what it is but it seems to be of good quality. Overall the shoe gives off a premium look even if the suede isn’t texturally the best ever. Still worth it at retail.
How Do They Fit?
These Nike Air Max 1 Bronze Eclipse/Houndstooth are comfy at a half size up, which is what I got based on availability at the time. I could see these fitting well but perhaps on the snug size at true to size. The shape on these out of the box is ok. Not a total cliff toe but not super sharp either. I left these with shoe trees overnight and it helped a lot!
What an eye catching Air Max 1! I think the best part of these is the someone upscale look contrasted with the bright orange on the tongue tag and top eyelets.
