WOW! I haven’t picked up a pair of Asics since the Gel Lyte OG pair I grabbed in February. What better way to have a pickup than a collab with these Sneaker Freaker x Asics Gel Lyte III Tiger Snake?
I’m not really sure what the Tiger Snake has to do with this colorway, but if I had grabbed the in store only release directly from Sneakerfreaker, I would have gotten the special box that ties it all together. I’ve read there are snakes in Australia with similar coloring. This wider release version just comes in a regular Asics box, although it does include beige and pink laces.
Beige and pink actually go with a lot! Dark and light wash denim will look good as well as black. I’d avoid khaki or grey colored pants with these. A black or white top can help complete the look. Overall with Gel Lyte IIIs you want to make sure the pants have a narrow taper thanks to the split tongue.
I’m a fan of these! I’m definitely digging the pink/tan combo on kicks in general, and the inclusion of black on here keeps the kicks looking tough. The speckled midsole is a nice touch. While I don’t buy too many Asics these days, I will make an exception for kicks like this!
How Are The Materials?
The materials seem pretty good on these! Most of the upper seems to be a good quality leather, with some decently smooth suede on the Asics stripes and some 3M hits to round it off. Parts of the leather seem to have a bit of tumble, although it’s not consistent throughout the whole shoe. I’d say materials fanatics will find these to have perfectly acceptable leather at the price point they are offered.
How Do They Fit?
These Sneaker Freaker x Asics Gel Lyte III Tiger Snake fit on the snug side. This is typical for Gel Lyte IIIs. I went up a half size and they are very comfortable at that size. The toebox is a bit snubby at first, so I hit these with a nice reshape to get them looking good.
