Like many people, the Waverunners quickly became one of my favorite Yeezys. These Adidas Yeezy Boost 700 Mauve didn’t sell out like those did when they first dropped, which I think affected how people view the shoe.
This shoe gets its name from the colorway.
These feel like the polar opposite of the Waverunner. While those surprise you with their versatility given such a funky colorway, I’ve found these to actually be slightly less workable. Don’t get me wrong, these still work with plenty of options, they don’t pop as much as the other colorway. That said, black or grey pants work well with these. I can also see light or dark wash denim, or even khaki denim being used in a nice outfit here. I think a black on black fit would be the simplest, easiest way to get these going.
Haters gone hate, but these are great! Don’t let the lack of resale value put you off from a dope colorway that serves as a nice counterbalance to the wacky Waverunner color scheme. Even with the dip in popularity, I can still easily recommend these. Actually, now is the time to buy, before the prices creep back up!
How Are The Materials?
The materials are overall very good. There are a couple of different suede textures, tumbled leather and plenty of mesh and 3M hits. The side panel shows the 3 stripes only when light hits the 3M in the shoe. The quality almost justifies the $300 price tag, especially with the different types of materials and textures used on each bit of paneling.
How Do They Fit?
The Adidas Yeezy Boost 700 Mauve are very comfortable. These fit close to other Adidas retro runners but with a wide base that keeps these nice and comfy. I wanted to get a 9.5 but wound up getting a 10 in the rush to cop when they dropped. Still, they fit great and actually don’t feel too big at all. Even though the shoe is fairly chunky, it still has the sharp retro runner aesthetic towards the front of the toebox.
