Saucony Shadow Original Blue & White Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

A lot of people sleep on Saucony as a shoe brand, especially GR’s and non-collabs. Which is a shame, because these Saucony Shadow Original blue & white are extremely nice!

You can’t go wrong with a solid patriotic(-ish) colorway like this. The shoe is fairly basic, but that totally works to its advantage, and the vintage appeal is strong on this model. The price point on these is crazy too, considering the quality you get! According to Saucony, the Shadow Original combines the Jazz Original with the Shadow 5000.

The suede is surprisingly lush on these for an inexpensive GR! It’s definitely above the sandpaper suede we get on Nikes that cost 2 times as much. The nylon mesh and leather portions aren’t that bad either! All in all, this is a simply constructed shoe with surprisingly decent material quality!

The Shadow Original generally fit true to size and are extremely comfortable. A simple EVA midsole keeps the cushioning basic but comfy and the uppers are lightweight and breathable. Not to mention, these look great on feet and have a fit reminiscent of vintage kicks from over 20 years ago!
