Saucony Shadow 5000 Navy Suede Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

Always respect to this model! I was fiending to cop a new pair and the Saucony Shadow 5000 Navy Suede helps to achieve that for the low.

These released in a pack with a grey and black pair – all three sport the gum outsole and same materials.

Navy typically looks great with khakis, whites and browns. Greys can also work as well. This time around, I want these to pop, so I’m going with some light colored denim and a light grey hoodie. Lighter pants will help this otherwise plain shoe stand out a bit.

Overall these are nothing special, especially in terms of quality. That said, they look sharp and help scratch the itch of copping some new kicks without denting the wallet too much. All in all, if you just want to cop some new GR runners to beat up, these are a great look!

How Are The Materials?

The materials are not very good on these. At least, they are not buttery. The all-suede upper seems thick and well constructed, but it definitely fails the texture test. In order to “fancy” these up, Saucony threw in some rope laces. This helps a bit, but I wish they had put the extra money into the suede quality instead.

How Do They Fit?

The Saucony Shadow 5000 Navy Suede fit true to size for me for a standard fit, but I like to go a half size down for a snug yet comfy fit. Doing it this way allows the pointy-toe runner shape to shine through. Shadow 5ks have a great shape already built in and the suede is going to give the kicks that pliability needed when sizing down.
