Nike SB Dunk High Brut Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

The Nike SB Dunk High Brut is part of a “Gentlemen’s Pack” that released in 2007 themed after men’s cologne. The other two dunks in the pack included an Old Spice dunk low and the 4711 or “Peacock” mids.

As you can probably guess, this pair is named after Brut cologne and shares its colorway with the packaging. These dunks are ones that I have gone back and forth with and have sold just to re-cop later. I like the colorway but there have been times when I wonder if I need these in the collection. In any case, I think I’m going to keep them this time!

These are mostly suede except the lower rear and wings which are leather and the swoosh which is like a patent leather, but might just be plastic over leather – it’s kind of hard to tell. One thing’s for sure; the finish on the swoosh is dope because metallic paint can turn green over time, I’m guessing from oxidation, but the plastic-like material on these keeps the swoosh a shiny silver color for a lot longer. Overall the suede quality is nice on these. I have a legit pair, but I noticed the stitching off a little bit in a couple of areas, so I can’t say that these had excellent quality control – but the errors on these are minor and not noticeable unless you are up close looking for defects.

The Nike SB Dunk High Brut fits true to size. The suede toebox ensures a comfortable fit with a little bit of room to stretch. Of course the soft materials and zoom air insole make these really cushy and plush feeling!
