Nike Dunk High SB Cork Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

Nike went through this phase where they were sticking cork on everything! The Nike Dunk High SB Cork is one of the better uses of this material.

That’s pretty much the long and the short of it, it’s some SB highs, but with cork. I’ve often talked about how I’m not a fan of the shape of newer SB dunks, and while the swoosh looks super odd on these, the overall kick looks great in my opinion.

These kicks are surprisingly versatile. Today for example I went with a white tee and some light colored denim, but these can look just as great with darker tones. The colorway is basically black and tan, which opens up a lot of possibilities. Don’t be scared to experiment a little bit with a shoe like this!

While these definitely don’t match the quality of earlier releases (goes without saying), they do a good job of representing the cork theme and being unique. Out of all the cork kicks, these are still my favorite!

Materials

The materials are suede and “cork”. I would expect the suede to be rough and cheap like other SB’s, but the suede is actually decent! The cork material feels kind of like a nubuck or microfiber to the touch. It’s kind of buttery in a way, so I’m not sure exactly how they make them or if they are actually made entirely of cork. It seems like it would be impractical to literally make a shoe out of that material, but these are solid regardless what they are actually made out of.

Fit

These Nike Dunk High SB Cork initially fit snug at true to size and are fairly comfortable. They are a teal box SB, but aren’t quite as stiff as other kicks that are from that era. I found them to break in quickly! The only issue I have with them is the overall shape and positioning of the swoosh as mentioned earlier, but those are minor aesthetic gripes. I really only trip off those things when I’m looking at the shoe close up and not on foot. On feet these look great!
