Nike Dunk High ID Nylon Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

I’m a fan of making Nike IDs if inspiration strikes and budget allows. These Nike Dunk High ID Nylon are a collaboration between online magazine Nylon and Nike’s ID program.

The limited release features dunks with an extra rand above the midsole, a multicolored Nylon-branded tongue and a clear outsole option with Nylon branding. I’m not big on how the rand looks but every nylon dunk I’ve seen has one, so I think it’s a necessary evil given the materials.

I tend to ID colorways I don’t have and can’t otherwise buy. Why not create something with simple, classic dunk color blocking and a bright flashy palette? I got some matching purple laces with these, but I think black looks better and makes the shoe more wearable.

How Are The Materials?

The materials are definitely interesting on these and make sense given the name of the magazine. The uppers are almost all nylon except for the leather swoosh. The materials are thick and the shoe is constructed well. The only downside is the heavy creasing and staining that can occur with this type of material. With a light colorway like this, extra caution should be utilized to keep dirt and dust off of the shoe, especially near where the eyelets and toebox meet.

How Do They Fit?

These Nike Dunk High ID Nylon fit true to size and are comfortable. The rand doesn’t help or hurt the comfort so the shoe basically fits like a standard dunk from 2013. The materials used make these more flexible, comfortable, hot and sweaty. I definitely recommend creating a pair of dunk IDs (now called Nike By You) if you get the chance, thanks to the better materials and more solid build compared to general release dunks.
