Nike Air Trainer SC 2 Volt Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

A well-known Bo Jackson trainer from 1990, the Air Trainer SC 2 is a Tinker Hatfield design.

This particular retro came out in 2011 and has a colorway reminiscent of some Air Max 90 Volt.

I am a fan of the volt and grey colorway on most shoes, and I thought it came out great on these. There are more comfortable sneakers with better quality in this colorway though, and if pressed, I’d take the aforementioned Air Max 90s over these.

My pair came with plain white laces and otherwise no extras or features to speak of.

How Are The Materials

The shoe is made out of suede and leather uppers. The materials here are super basic, with nothing standing out as premium.

These are intended to be a rugged trainer and as such having delicate materials is counterintuitive. Still, we know Nike can do better than basic when it comes to leather while still maintaining a rugged feel.

How Is The Fit?

The fit on the Air Trainer SC 2 is snug at true to size.

A half size up will help, in addition to wearing these with the strap undone. I’m personally feeling these more for the colorway than the comfort. The comfort on these kicks is decent for a retro, though. Still, as mentioned, similar colorways in other sneakers will treat your feet a lot better.
