Nike Air Max 90 Infrared AKA Air Max III Radiant Red Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector. Updated: 11-19-2020

The Laser Blue are not the only OG retro AM90 I was after this year. The Nike Air Max 90 Infrared is the ultimate classic OG colorway of this model. We all knew it was coming, and it’s finally here! I’ve also reviewed the 2010 retro of this shoe.

These come in a skinny red and grey Nike box like the other recrafts, but larger to alleviate the shoes getting crammed in like previous special recraft colorways. The box features a throwback boxtag on one side and the current tag on the other. Exactly like the Laser Blue, these come with an orange rubbery plastic hangtag, magenta anatomical arch supports and plain flat white laces. They also similarly feature a retro size tag on the inside of the tongue and have the size indicated inside the ankle. The main difference here is the inclusion of a small flyer with retro images of runners and vintage AM90 related gear.

How Are The Materials?

There’s nothing too amazing here at this point, we basically get the recraft level of quality. the bulk of the upper is suede, smooth leather and mesh. The materials are at least soft and a step up from non-recraft retros of old. This shoe isn’t what I would call a “materials” shoe anyway; it exists purely to evoke that retro 1990 vibe. After all the recent New Balance reviews I’ve done, I can’t call the materials “premium” but they are adequate for what this shoe represents.

How Do They Fit?

I went to size for these Nike Air Max 90 Infrared. I get a 10 in most Nikes and that’s what I got here. These are very comfortable, I like taking them on longer walks. Apparently, this pair and the Laser Blue have an air unit in the front of the shoe in addition to the bubble in back. According to Nike, anyway. Regardless, these are definitely up there for me on retro runner comfort.

These were a no brainer for me. If you like Air Max 90s and want the OG-est of OG colorways, buy this shoe.
