Nike Air Max 1 ID Dolphins Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

If you read my blog, you know that I think AM1s are great! I also love creating my own colorways, and these Air Max 1 ID Dolphins definitely filled a void in my sneaker collection.

I used to own a pair of Miami Dolphin themed SB Dunks but sold them. The shape of Brazil-exclusive SB’s bothers me. I now have these ID’s to replace the colorway in my collection.

The Nike ID program is now called Nike By You.

The colors really pop and I didn’t want to be without something in teal and orange for the hotter days. It also makes sense to go with some runners over some SB’s when it comes to bright, summery shoes.

How Are The Materials?

GR and even premium AM1s generally have less than stellar quality. IDs are a different story, however. The denim on these is great! The suede is definitely that felt texture I’ve come to accept for Air Max 1s, but the flexibility and quality of the rest of the shoe makes up for it.

How Do They Fit?

The Air Max 1 ID Dolphins fit true to size and are super comfy. As opposed to other AM1s with stiffer materials, these are actually fairly pliable. The denim holds its shape without confining the foot to pinky toe torture. The part where the denim borders the mesh makes the toebox a bit boxy, so quite a bit of reshaping was in order to get these looking sleek. That said, I feel like these are a great investment – if you have a good idea for a colorway, definitely give Nike ID a shot!
