2010 Nike Air Foamposite One Eggplant Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

What with the 2017 versions of these releasing, I had to go back and cover these 2010 Nike Air Foamposite One Eggplant. The release of this colorway came a year after it had already released in 2009.

There were already changes from the previous version, the most noticeable being a less shiny upper. Even further changes happen on the 2017 release, as it has the blue tinted outsole. Although not quite as famous as the Royal foams, the Eggplants are still high on the recognizability scale for foamposite heads.

This is basically an iridescent dark purple shoe. Luckily, the non-purple parts are black. I suggest going with a tonal grey outfit with these. Black works too, but whatever you do, avoid rocking a cheesy amount of purple with these. This type of shoe is going to draw looks anywhere outside of the DC area, so it’s ok to let the shoes do the talking with the rest of the fit downplayed a bit.

I’m obviously a big fan of this shoe. If you like foams at all, I suggest grabbing a pair of these or the newer 2017 retro to add to the collection. The look and colorway of this particular pair is very unique and will stand out and get comments when you wear them!

How Are The Materials?

These basically are on par with other foam releases from around the same time. The foam material has lasted without dulling and the suede/nubuck on the black parts is passable. Overall, this isn’t a shoe you buy for material quality so much as the material itself.

How Do They Fit?

The Nike Air Foamposite One Eggplant have a comfortably snug fit at true to size. They fit similar to pretty much every other foamposite I’ve reviewed. Some size up but I feel like that’s a tad unnecessary. The point of the foamposite is that with wear, the inside of the shoe molds to your foot to create a perfect fit. I don’t wear them often enough for that, and they’re still comfy for me at true size.
