Nike Air Foamposite One Copper Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

I haven’t done a pair of foams in a while, but apparently the Nike Air Foamposite One Copper are going to be retro’d soon.

Therefore, I need to get this review out there! These have actually been on my list to review for a while but I usually wait for rainier weather to rock foams due to their sturdy construction. Penny Hardaway famously wore this model, although not this colorway. However, the homage is fairly blatant as the copper upper is reminiscent of a one cent piece!

Usually dark jeans are the way to go with these. Some raw denim and a black hoodie can make a basic outfit that looks great with Copper foams. I didn’t want to go the obvious route, so I’m rocking these with a light grey hoodie instead. In my opinion, it doesn’t look bad at all! Then again, these kicks definitely draw the eye and become the focal point of any outfit. Frankly, I could wear a trash bag with these and the shoes would still be what everyone is staring at.

As I recall, these sold out pretty quickly with a good amount of hype. These days, they are not as in demand thanks to oversaturation of colorways on this model. However, that doesn’t mean that these shoes aren’t worth your time. These are without a doubt in my top 4 all time best foamposite colorways. I highly recommend getting this colorway if you are a fan of foamposites.

How Are The Materials?

These have standard Foamposite One construction. The hard foam material makes up most of the upper with the black parts being a nubuck/suede type material. I’ve never been impressed with non-foam elements on foamposite uppers. The nubuck is never anything special, but the whole point of the shoe is it’s wavy upper design and the colorway.

How Do They Fit?

The Air Foamposite One Copper fit snug and stiff in a good way. The idea is that as you wear them, they break in. Posite material is theoretically supposed to conform to your foot, forming a “perfect fit”. I never wear these enough personally for this to fully occur, but for me they are very comfortable just the same. If you have an issue with snug-fitting shoes, you may want to grab a half size bigger. Be aware these are heavy-duty kicks; those used to wearing lightweight runners will want to keep that in mind.
