New Balance 580 Sound and Stage Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

New Balance claims that the New Balance 580 Sound and Stage colorway is based off of bright stage lights.

Other details complete the sound theme such as the 1/4″ plug stripes on the lace tips on both sets of laces and the volume dial print on the insole. While the 580 might not be New Balance’s most popular model (it reminds me a bit of the 999), this colorway was too dope for me to pass up!

As with most New Balance kicks besides the most generic of GRs, the materials are extremely nice on these. The suede is soft and plush, while the leather and ballistic mesh add some ruggedness to the shoe. The 3M hits help accentuate the bright stage lights theme and add some pop to these. These are technically an “elite” edition, which may explain the super nice suede. Regardless, I was not disappointed with this shoe.

The New Balance 580 Sound and Stage fit true to size and are extremely comfortable. The shoe looks a lot heavier than it is; these are surprisingly light! I highly recommend checking out a pair of 580 elite if you get the chance, I think most will be pleasantly surprised with how light and comfy these are!
