Asics Gel-Respector Navy and Sand Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

I’ve copped a couple more pairs of this model since my last review, and I have to say the Asics Gel-Respector Navy and Sand is one of my new favorite colorways!

The Respector itself is a dope model, especially in this material combination or similar. It seems like Asics is really paying attention to quality on these and this particular colorway seems a bit subtle, but in a good way.

The suede on these is better (for a GR) than pretty much any other general release pair of Asics. Other than suede, I think the Asics stripes are leather. The all suede Respectors definitely seem to use a decent or better quality suede than other pairs that cost around the same price point. If you’re into buttery kicks, you’ll probably be feeling these.

The Asics Gel-Respector Navy and Sand fit true to size in my opinion, although I’ve read elsewhere that some people feel they need to size down on this model. Either way, these provide plenty of cushioning and are very comfortable. I find them to be a bit more breathable than an equivalently sized pair of GLIIIs, and more comfy overall as well.
