Air Jordan XI Bred Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector. Updated: 07-22-2016

The Air Jordan XI Bred originally came out in 1996 and has been retro’d a few times since. This particular version dropped in 2012 and of course sold out immediately.

The latest retro comes in a regular Jordan box and includes special red plastic shoe trees and a red plastic piece that covers the shoes inside the box. By the way, as far as I can tell, Bred is short for black and red.

Patent leather and mesh cover the shoe, while regular leather appears on the rear. This is the typical set up for Air Jordan XIs. The materials are of good quality and are definitely rugged and thick. Bred XI in general make good investments for XI’s, as the dark color palette masks dirt fairly well and the shoes are tanks! The solid build contributes to longevity for the Bred XI.

How Do They Fit?

The Air Jordan XI Bred fit true to size and are somewhat comfortable. Jordans tend to be a bit stiff, and Air Jordan XI seems to suffer more from this than other pairs. Definitely avoid sizing down if possible on XIs.

The shape on these is a little disappointing too. Older XI’s have a different cut on the patent leather and a sleeker toebox shape that is not found on this retro. Still, on foot the shape seems to flatten out a bit and make these look a little bit better than how they look on the shelf / in the box.
