Air Jordan III White Cement Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector.

I used to own a pair of these that released over a decade ago. This model isn’t built to last though, so when a chance to grab a newer retro of Air Jordan III White Cements comes around, I jump on it!

There’s a method to the madness when it comes to certain types of Air Jordans that deteriorate with age. The Air Jordan 3’s midsole is known to crack and crumble over time, so the constant release of newer retros is a good thing in a way. Once my old pair becomes unwearable, I’ll have these to throw on instead!

A pair with “Nike Air” on the back released after this, but it was so soon afterwards that I didn’t bother picking that pair up. As it turns out, the later release is the more popular of the two based off of the Nike Air branding. Either way, I see picking up any pair of White Cement IIIs as a win.

How Are The Materials?

The leather quality on these obviously isn’t matching that of the 2003 retro. However, the materials are still of passable quality. The synthetic leather is that “shiny” leather that Jordan collectors like to hate on. It’s got this odd gloss to it that a lot of Nike leather from around that time has. The suede/nubuck elephant print on my pair seems decent although I’ve seen some inconsistent quality on other pairs online.

How Do They Fit?

The 2011 Air Jordan III White Cement fit true to size and are fairly comfortable. I’ve always found the AJ3 to be a comfy shoe relative to other J’s. It seems like one of the few early Jordan models that are actually made wide enough to be comfortable. That said, the technology used on these is from the 80s, so these are definitely not lightweight. The Air technology at least provides a nice bit of solid support. In any case, this is a classic shoe regardless of what year of retro it is. If you don’t have at least one pair in your sneaker collection, I’d look into adding a pair, especially if you are a fan of Air Jordans!
