2011 Air Jordan VII Bordeaux Review

By Anthony Levine, longtime sneaker collector. Updated: 05-29-2017

Since there’s now a 2015 retro of the Air Jordan VII Bordeaux, I figured it was time to pull out this 2011 version.

These dropped in the silver / black Jordan box and came with black laces with silver lace tips. The retro is based off of an OG colorway from 1992. Supposedly, no two tongue patterns are the same. The 2015 retro has more black on the midsole than this pair, which means it’s easy to tell the ’11 retro from the ’15.

You can pair up a dark outfit with these, but I prefer to switch it up and throw on a light pair of jeans and top instead. These really can stand out on their own, and while they will do that a bit with some darker denim, the effect is multiplied with a lighter colored outfit.

7s have always been hit or miss for me. They are kind of an extreme looking shoe and have a total 90s vibe. In this case the colorway is so unique yet mellow on these, they strike the perfect balance for me. I highly recommend looking at getting a pair of these if you want a token pair of 7s in your collection, as they epitomize the look of the sneaker and the time period it represents.

How Are The Materials?

These particular 7s are comprised of suede/nubuck and neoprene. The suede is soft and buttery although it isn’t very lush. I’d say the quality balances out to good, but not great. I find these are more about the look than the materials, however the materials are actually nothing to sneeze at!

How Do They Fit?

The 2011 Air Jordan VII Bordeaux fit slightly large and are very comfortable. I went true to size, and although they are a bit big on me, it doesn’t detract from the comfort. The neoprene booty set up on the tongue allows these to have a somewhat snug fit on the top of the foot so it stays in place even if you lace them loosely.
